How’s your day so far? Any exciting mid-week plans?
My mid-week plans include catching up on sleep. Maybe. Hopefully.
I am about to have a bit of a mommy rant. Please know that I love my daughter with all of my heart. Please know that I know how very lucky I am to have a child after all of my infertility struggles. Please know that I would not trade a single day with her for anything or anyone on this earth.
But, please know, that sometimes I get tired.
I get tired of reading the same stories over and over again. I get tired of having to sing the same songs over and over again. I get tired of having to guess what she wants while she throws a tantrum and screams.
But, most of all, I get tired of being woken up in the middle of the night. For 2 hours. With a toddler who wants to do ANYTHING but sleep.
You know, it’s funny what extended periods of sleep deprivation will do to you. In fact, I’ve read articles about sleep deprivation being used as a torture device to get prisoners to talk.
What do you want to know? I’ll tell you anything! Once, in the 7th grade, I wrote a bad word on a desk at school and lied about it. I’m sorry!
In these situations, I don’t always know what to do.
When it’s 2 AM and there is no one else to be the adult, you do your best. My best in that situation, was to sit on the couch with Matilda and watch Harry Potter. Because, you know, YOLO.
Okay, mom rant over. All of that was my segue to yesterday’s (AKA Tuesday’s) eats and my excuse for my ridiculous coffee consumption. This WIAW is all about sleep deprivation, coffee, and sugar. Thanks Jenn for the link up!
Breakfast started with a much needed double shot latte that was finished much too quickly.
Oatmeal mixed with Sunwarrior, cooked apples, and chia seeds, topped with cinnamon. And latte number 2 because it was a long night.
After breakfast, we headed to the gym. I did not have the energy for Spin, so I decided on Yoga instead. Good decision, I think.

Since yesterday was my Mother-in-law’s birthday, Matilda and I decided to pop over to her work, wish her happy birthday, and drop off a cupcake.
By the time we got home, I was more than ready for lunch!
This was a leftover piece of Socca pizza that I ate over some baby kale and a few leftover roasted potatoes. I also had more coffee.
After I put Matilda down for a nap, I broke these out for dessert.
You guys have no idea how ridiculously excited I was to spot these at the grocery store yesterday. They are one of my favorite parts of the Fall season!
I considered taking a nap, but then remembered that I needed to do laundry, clean my kitchen, prep dinner, write…Stupid adult life…
So, instead, I compromised and had more coffee.
Dinner was acorn squash with southwest quinoa.
After dinner, we decided to enjoy the beautiful evening with a walk around the neighborhood.

After our walk, we got Matilda ready for bed and down for the night at 7:30! #Winning #seehowlongitlasts
Dessert/night-time snack was sliced apples topped with cinnamon and chocolate chips. I got this idea from Meredith, and I have to admit, it is a winning combo!
Followed by some blogging, a little reading, and then bed.
