With the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, 13 states with trigger laws are set to immediately ban or severely restrict access to abortion.
The decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization leaves the legality of abortion up to states. Kentucky’s trigger law immediately goes into effect, with exceptions for preventing injuries or the death of a pregnant woman.
Louisiana
Louisiana’s trigger law immediately goes into effect, with exceptions for preventing serious injuries or the death of a pregnant woman.
Mississippi

Missouri
Missouri’s trigger law will immediately go into effect after the governor or attorney general certifies Roe‘s overturning. There are exceptions for medical emergencies.
North Dakota
North Dakota’s trigger law will go into effect 30 days after Roe is overturned.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma’s trigger law will go into effect after it is certified from the state’s attorney general.
South Dakota
South Dakota’s trigger law immediately goes into effect.
Tennessee
Tennessee’s trigger law will go into effect 30 days after Roe is overturned, with exceptions for preventing serious injuries or the death of a pregnant woman.
Texas
Texas’s trigger law will go into effect 30 days after Roe is overturned, with exceptions for preventing serious injuries or the death of a pregnant woman.
Utah
Utah’s trigger law will go into effect after the legislative general counsel certifies that the legislature can ban abortion. There are exceptions for preventing serious injuries or the death of a pregnant woman, cases of rape or incest, or the possibility of birth defects.
Wyoming
Wyoming’s trigger law will go into effect 30 days after Roe is overturned, with exceptions for saving the pregnant woman’s life or in cases of rape.
