For years sacai has presided amongst the upper echelon of the collaborative sneaker market by retooling propositions of The Swooshes lifestyle archives while remaining true to each silhouette’s original design language. From the consistent stream of titular Blazer Low’s across the past few months to redefining the LDWaffle on a handful of occasions, the latest greyscale ensemble tapping the Nike Zoom Cortez is now readying for its official release next Tuesday.
Receiving our first look at the pair back in May, the Japanese fashion label’s obsession with extensive panelling is harkened once again for the iconic construction from 1972 as the brand’s sneaker within a sneaker aesthetic is established effectively through its doubled-up tongue construction, surrounding ankle panels and suede heel counters. In concert, varying shades of grey and white anchor the silhouette’s branding components while sacai comes stamped at the tongue and heel tabs in unison with Chitose Abe’s past collaborative works with the Beaverton-based brand. Updating the model for the future of running wear by way of an exposed Zoom Air unit underfoot, the greyed-out outfit above receives a seldom contrast with olive and cream-hued overlapping sections of the midsole accompanied by a serrated grey tread in conclusion.
Set to release next Tuesday, December 13th for a retail price of $180, enjoy a last look at the upcoming sacai x Nike Zoom Cortez “Iron Grey” below alongside our updated store list.
