Favorite cousin Jordan

Our impromptu weekend guests!

Hey guys!

How was your weekend? I know I’m a day late, but our weekend lasted a little longer than normal, so I need to catch up!

First though, I want to thank you all so, so much for your fabulous comments on my post last Thursday.  I am reminded time and again why I love this blogging community so much!

Now, to catch up a little! This past weekend we had some lovely and somewhat unexpected guests- My favorite cousin Jordan, her husband, and their adorable little girl Izzy!

Izzy bean!

They were coming back through Knoxville on their way home from a weekend spent at a cabin in Gatlinburg. So, of course we had  to make plans to meet them for brunch on Sunday.

My loves

We had plans to take them to a newish restaurant called Olibea, but the wait was 45+ minutes because the restaurant only had 2(!!) highchairs and they were both in use! So, we decided to go to a cool Gastropub right next door called The Crown and Goose.

The food was amazing, but we were sad to have such a short amount of time with some of our favorite people.

Just the girls

We said goodbye, or so we thought, and headed home. On the way home John and I were talking about how we’re always so sad to have such short visits with them (They live in Indiana). The next thing I know, Jordan is texting me to ask how we would feel about some impromptu house guests for the night! We were of course so excited!

Matilda had so much fun playing with Izzy! In fact, Jordan and Zach were so sweet and offered to keep her while I went to teach BODYPUMP. (It was too short of notice for me to get a sub).

They clearly had a great time!!

And John and I got a killer workout! BODYPUMP 97 y’all…like woah.

I’m pretty sure that face says it all.

Snapchat fun!!

My mom graciously offered to watch both of the girls so the four of us could go out and have some baby free time. We headed back downtown where the Dogwood Arts festival was kicking off with a sidewalk chalk art competition.

We took them to a new-to-us restaurant called Not Watsons. We had to celebrate our impromptu vacation with drinks.

For my entree, I got the Burger salad, which was just my choice of burger over a HUGE salad. I got the Parisian Burger-sauteed mushrooms, brie, and grass fed beef. It was all that is right with the world!!

Afterwards we took them to The Peter Kern Library- where John and I went a few weeks ago on our anniversary staycation.

We enjoyed our drinks and headed home to our little princesses.

The next morning came too soon and it was time to say goodbye.

  1. I love your cousin’s spontaneity! More time with the ones we love is always worth it. That is so fun that Matlida has a cousin so close to her age. They will be besties!
Your brunch looks fabulous. I’ve never had that dish before. Are those crab cakes? If so, yummy.
Woop for burger salads- best of both worlds.
