After since the Warriors won the 2022 NBA title on June 16, Draymond Green has been on a verbal rampage, taking down any critic who stands in his way.
In the postgame celebration, during the championship parade in San Francisco, on social media and during his podcast, Green has been ripping those who doubted the Warriors could get back to the NBA mountaintop.
On Monday night, Green made an appearance on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show.”
“This one feels different than any other one,” Green said.
Host Trevor Noah cut Green off and asked him why.
“It’s like the ultimate f–k you,” Green said, much to the delight of the live studio audience. “It’s the best.”
The Warriors weren’t the favorites to win the title this year, and even when they reached the conference finals, some outlets gave the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and Miami Heat better odds to win the championship.
Green and his Warriors teammates noticed, and they didn’t forget after they raised their fourth Larry O’Brien Trophy in eight seasons.
“I feel like people doubted us more this time than they did prior to 2015 when we had never won anything, and I think that’s ultimately … everybody’s like ‘Why in the parade are you saying F everybody and shut up?’ ” Green said. “And that’s because the reality is, they disrespected the work we’ve already done. To disrespect us as if we aren’t champions and write us off like we hadn’t done it before, that’s why I said ‘f–k them.’ Simple.”
